Maureen Walls is the youngest of the Walls children. She is seen as weak and not close to any of her family members, seemingly because of her age difference. She is quite beautiful with blond hair and blue eyes yet she is never self- sufficient. As a child she always ate and slept over at her friends' houses. She never quite bonded with her siblings and depended solely on other people. She moved to New York when she was twelve. Maureen moved in with Lori and was enrolled in school. She ended up living with her parents after school because she did not contribute to anything. "Ever since she was a kid, she'd been looking for someone to take care of her" (Walls 274). Even her mother attempted to kick her out resulting in Maureen stabbing her. She was held in a mental hospital for a year. After being released she bought a one way ticket to California. Jeannette comments that maybe that is where Maureen bleonged all along.
